First & Foremost, at P.S. 207, Emotions Matter.

The well-being and sustainability of our society depends on each of us using our emotions wisely.   This belief is evidenced across our district schools through the implementation of RULER, Yale University's Center for Emotional Intelligence evidence-based approach to social and emotional learning.  RULER an acronym for the five skills of emotional intelligence (recognizing, understanding, labeling, expressing, and regulating),  fosters a range of behaviors and shifts in school climate that are essential to positive youth development. Use of the Mood Meter teaches the identification and labeling of emotions, helping everyone become more mindful of how our emotions change throughout the day and how our emotions in turn affect our actions.  This helps to develop self-awareness and self-regulation and helps us to have a better understanding of the full scope of our emotional lives. The development of the core skills is a crucial building block to achieving our vision of Growing Leaders of Today and Tomorrow, and our mission, to unite and ignite a love of learning and to create a joyful, equitable and inclusive learning environment which fosters the leadership skills and values necessary for the success of all members of our school community.   To support our work at school, be sure to use the Mood Meter for emotional check-ins as a family.
