Welcome to P.S. 207!.mp4

Our vision of Growing Leaders of Today and Tomorrow, is supported by our mission, to unite, ignite a love of learning and to create a joyful, equitable and culturally responsive learning environment which fosters the leadership skills and values necessary for the success of all members of our school community.

Our school logo is designed to serve as a symbol of our vision and mission at P.S. 207. Like an oak tree, our tree signifies our emphasis on strength, knowledge, growth and creativity. Our tree trunk and crown are depicted in the form of an adult and child intertwined, symbolizing the manner in which we work together to lift, shape and support our students. The branches and leaves of our tree are a myriad of colorful handprints, signifying the individual knowledge and strengths of our students as they grow as leaders of today and tomorrow.

School Uniforms

Our school uniforms are grey bottoms and white polo shirts with our school logo.

We have partnered with French Toast to allow for ease in purchasing our school uniforms. French Toast is in the process of finalizing our uniform order form. We will send an update regarding the method for ordering in the coming weeks.

In the meantime, the photo on the left pictures our school uniform. While we wait for the French Toast embroidered shirts t be available, we are providing each student with TWO iron on patches which should be applied to a white polo.

We are also providing every student with a PS 207 ROCKS t-shirt on the first day of school. On the first and and second day of school, students must wear a shirt which they can wear under the PS 207 ROCKS t-shirt. Upon arrival to homecoming, students will be provided with the PS 207 ROCKS t-shirt to wear for both homecoming days.

To purchase plain white polo shirts and grey bottoms, we recommend the following:

As we enter thee 2020-2021 school year, every student at PS 207 will have the opportunity to read a common text, and engage in learning, thinking, and responding to this shared text. Having all students and adults in our school share a common experience around literature, helps to not only unify and create a literacy learning community, but to provide a shared experience for all students while emphasizing the behaviors and habits of mind we want want students to emulate.

How to Read A Book

This book, from Newberry Medalist Kwame Alexander and Caldecott Honoree Melissa Sweet is a poetic and beautiful journey about the experience of reading.

Find a tree—a

black tupelo or

dawn redwood will do—and

plant yourself.

(It’s okay if you prefer a stoop, like Langston Hughes.)

With these words, an adventure begins. Kwame Alexander’s evocative poetry and Melissa Sweet’s lush artwork come together to take readers on a sensory journey between the pages of a book.

Literature plays a key role in helping children’s voices take the floor. Literature triggers thoughts, unlocks memories, and helps create the kind of community in which it’s safe to tell our stories. – Shelley Harwayne
