Health & Wellness at P.S. 207
Role of the School Nurse
Daily Medical Care: The on-site medical team manages daily first aid, treats sudden illnesses, and administers required medications.
Chronic Condition Support: They work closely with families and healthcare providers to manage chronic conditions like asthma, allergies, diabetes, and seizure disorders during school hours.
504 Accommodations: Coordinates with the 504 Coordinator to ensure students with specific health needs or disabilities receive proper medical accommodations.
Parent Responsibilities & Guidelines
Mandatory Medical Forms: Parents must submit completed DOE Medication Administration Forms (MAFs) signed by a doctor for any daily or emergency medication to be given at school.
When to Keep Students Home: To keep the school community healthy, students should only stay home if they are contagious or too sick to attend class.
Absence Documentation:
1 Day Absence: A handwritten note from a parent/guardian.
2+ Consecutive Days: A official doctor’s note is required.
Clear photos/scans of notes must be emailed directly to ps207attendanceteam@ps207.org.
Whole-Child Wellness & Mental Health
Social-Emotional Support: Wellness at P.S. 207 focuses on the "whole child," integrating physical health with emotional well-being.
Support Team: Families can connect with the School Social Worker, School Counselor, or Parent Coordinator for mental health resources, counseling services, and family support.
Healthy Habits: P.S. 207 encourages healthy family routines—ensuring students get plenty of sleep, a balanced diet, and daily exercise to stay mentally and physically prepared for learning!
