S.T.A.R. values—Respect, Organization, Cooperation, Kindness, Safety and Successful, Thorough, Authentic, Reflective—students are recognized for demonstrating positive choices, leadership, and responsibility each day. Through a Growth Mindset approach, we teach students that challenges are opportunities to learn, mistakes help us grow, and effort leads to success. Together, PBIS, R.O.C.K.S. Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) is a proactive, schoolwide framework that teaches, models, and reinforces positive behaviors to create a safe, respectful, and supportive learning environment for all students. Rather than simply responding to misbehavior, PBIS focuses on clearly defined expectations, consistent routines, positive recognition, and restorative practices that help students develop the social, emotional, and behavioral skills needed to be successful in school and beyond.
At P.S. 207, our R.O.C.K.S. S.T.A.R. framework is more than a set of expectations—it is the foundation of who we are. Every day, students are encouraged to demonstrate our core values of Respect, Organization, Cooperation, Kindness, and Safety (R.O.C.K.S.) while striving to be Successful, Thorough, Authentic, and Reflective (S.T.A.R.) learners and leaders. From classroom lessons and schoolwide celebrations to leadership opportunities and daily interactions, the R.O.C.K.S. S.T.A.R. values are woven into every aspect of life at P.S. 207. Together, they help create a joyful, inclusive school community where every child is empowered to grow as both a learner and a leader.
Bringing these values to life are our beloved mascots, Rocky the Tiger and Star the Rhino. Rocky represents the strength, courage, and determination to overcome challenges, while Star symbolizes resilience, confidence, and purposeful leadership. Throughout the school year, our mascots celebrate student achievements, reinforce positive behaviors, and remind students what it means to lead with character.
Our monthly Growth Mindset Mantras bring our vision of Growing Leaders of Today and Tomorrow to life. Each month, students and staff focus on a shared message that encourages courage, perseverance, reflection, and continuous growth. These mantras help us stay connected as one school community while reminding us that learning is a journey—and every challenge is an opportunity to grow.
