Dear P.S. 207 Families,
Happy September and Happy Back-to-School!!!!
Here we go! After a summer of planning, preparing, learning, and lots of anticipation, we are ready to welcome our ROCKS STARS back to P.S. 207!
There is nothing quite like the beginning of a new school year—new teachers, classrooms, friendships, routines, and opportunities to grow. Whether your family is joining us for the first time or has been part of our community for years, we are so happy you are here!
🧠 Our September Growth Mindset: Everyone Can Learn!
Each month, our school community will focus on a Growth Mindset Mantra. We begin with one of our most important beliefs:
Everyone Can Learn!
Children learn in different ways, at different paces, and bring unique strengths and experiences to our classrooms. Throughout September, we will remind our ROCKS STARS that learning isn't about getting everything right the first time. We learn when we try, practice, make mistakes, ask questions, persevere, and try again.
Above all, we want every child to know:
You belong here. You are capable. We believe in you.
You can reinforce our mantra at home, too. When something feels difficult, remind your child: “You may not know it YET—but you can learn!”
🧡 Building Our Community
The first weeks of school are about more than schedules and routines. They are about relationships and belonging.
Our staff will spend time getting to know your children as both learners and people—what excites them, challenges them, makes them proud, and helps them learn best. Students will practice our ROCKS STAR Leadership Values, build their classroom communities, and learn what it means to be a leader at P.S. 207.
Our goal is simple: Every child should know there is a place for them here.
⭐ Growing Leaders of Today and Tomorrow
Our vision, Growing Leaders of Today and Tomorrow, continues to guide our work. This year, we want students to increasingly understand and take ownership of their learning by being able to answer:
What am I learning? Why am I learning it?
What does success look like? How am I doing? What can I do next?
Families can help! Instead of only asking, “What did you do in school today?” try:
“What did you learn?” “What was challenging?” “What are you proud of?”
These small conversations help our ROCKS STARS see themselves as learners and leaders.
📅 This Month at P.S. 207
September is busy, exciting, and maybe even a little chaotic—and that's part of what makes it special!
This month is about welcoming, connecting, establishing routines, and creating belonging. Through Growth Mindset activities, ROCKS STAR Leadership Values, family connections, celebrations, and schoolwide traditions, we are building the community that will carry us throughout the year.
Our families are an essential part of that community. We look forward to learning, celebrating, communicating, and partnering with you all year long.
💭 A Thought for September
The beginning of a school year can bring lots of emotions—for children and adults! Excitement, nervousness, anticipation…sometimes all before breakfast!
We don't expect our children to have everything figured out on Day 1. They will try, make mistakes, learn, adjust, make friends, and discover new strengths. Little by little, those small efforts will add up to tremendous growth.
Everyone can learn. Everyone can grow. Everyone belongs.

What is one thing you hope your child learns about themselves this year—not just as a student, but as a person and a leader?
Here's to a September filled with love, laughter, learning, new friendships, big dreams, and lots of growth!
